Has the best opening hours for anybody wanting a coffee latter in the day. Favorite with the Uni across the road so you might be unlucky and catch them on a break but the positive to that is it's the best value in town with out cutting back on the quality. Great views and more private area out the back. Worth a visit for more reasons than I can mention.
Kate's Place was my local café of choice for several years. It was so easy to lose an hour or two here in front of the fire with a coffee, a GREAT vanilla vanilla slice, free wifi and a quirky book or two to read. Since moving away from Albany, Kate's Place is probably what I miss the most!
An Albany favourite weekend brunch spot - Kate's Place is as cute as it is culinary. When I walked in I squealed with excitement - the velvet green armchair in the window was free so I nabbed it for my breakfast perch. I ordered sides of salmon, potato cake, spinach and avocado - not a lot of GF options but staff were happy to help. Very cozy I imagine in winter and feels like a neighbourhood hang out with large tables, magazines, and nooks to read in.
Ate here for breakfast during our entire stay. Very friendly and accommodating place. The potato pancakes are the real jewel and they gladly replaced the bacon with poached eggs for me.
Cute cafe situated relatively close to the water with nice views out over the inlet and close to the entertainment center. It has a small menu of lunch items which include salads, paninis and toasts. I had the Moroccan chicken salad which had really tender and nicely spiced chicken, lots of avocado slices and spinach with other yummy fixings. They have a small kids menu with pikelets and eggs on toast. A great spot to meet up with a friend for a coffee or a casual lunch. Coffees are good, and best suited for the latte lovers as they are heavily milk based. Regarding earlier reviews, the cafe does call out that everything is made in a mixed kitchen so if allergies are an issue then you will need to make a judgment call.
